BUBBLE BOOMER?

Hiya Megadroid!

I think I MAY have a link to the 'boomer' catchphrase! In the Bubblegum Crisis anime series; that'd be the name they used for all the service robots used about the place... although, I suddenly don't suppose that'd be a nice thing to call the fans... (No offense to you being a robot and all...)

Oh well, just a quick message: a belated merry Christmas, happy new year and best wishes to the comic to come!

Jasmine 'the ditzy albino foxgirl' Smith

PS- I LOVE ROUGE!!!! I'm SO glad she's in the comic now! I hope she turns into a good character like SA2! Well... maybe not GOOD, but at least less evil...

PPS- Who's the last member of the sindicate? I see Doctor Robotnik, Rouge, Zachary; and this really funky red echidna with the tattoos and muscles...

We had a massive response to our hunt for the origin of the word "Boomer". But here's the real truth...

ORIGIN OF THE BOOMERS!

Hi Megadroid!

Okay, seriously, THANK you for rekindling the comic I loved so much, I was in despair at the reprints and stopped soon after. But this is fantastic, well done and keep up the new work.

Also, have you heard anything from the old crew of writers and artists? What do they think of STC online?

Oh, and Boomers came about as a derivitive of 'Sonic Boomers' which you started to coin as a phrase since the very beginning.

William Grey Mountain

Nice one, William, your memory chips are fully operational! Boomer does indeed derive from 'Sonic Boom'. As for the original writers and artists, check out past issues of Speedlines for some of their thoughts... and don't forget to rush out and buy your copy of 2000AD issue 1375, with a gruesome new tale by Nigel Kitching and Richard Elson... but remember, it's not for the faint-hearted!

CHARTING SUCCESS

Yo Megadroid,

I was looking back back at a old issue of Sonic the Comic. i saw a review of Sonic Blast on the Sega Saturn and a game chart. will you be doing one of those in the future comics?

Yasir Bakth

Now that Sega makes games for lots of different formats, there would be too many charts to list! But you can still read the latest review action!

ORIGINAL AND BEST

Dear Megadroid,

I read the original STC comics right from the start (when I was about 8),almost to the end. I actually stopped collecting them about six months before they stopped making them, mainly because I was embarassed to be seen buying them (you know what teenagers are like). Ever since they stopped producing them, I've regretted the decision, so imagine my joy last week when reading "Media Magazine"! There was an article about Sonic in it that mentiond STC.... and even better that there was an online version of it still going!

I had to come and check it out and I must say, am very impresed. It has all the old sections: Control Zone, Speedlines.... even a pin-up! (How about introducing the old game tips page?).

In the last few years, I got nostaligic about Sonic comics and even tried reading the American series... but it just wasn't the same.

Cheers all!
From Phil Hawkins

Thanks, Phil! And if anyone has any tips, tricks and cheats for their favourite Sega games... let Speedlines know, and maybe you could be the star reporter of a future Q Zone!

IT'S A SETUP!

To the Megadroid dude,

I notice a lot of setting up of Sonic Adventure characters in your stories (Big and Rouge), I'm very much hoping that this is in preperation to serialise the storyline of the Sonic Adventure games in your comic.

STC always had a tradition of serialising the story of the games and I think this worked really well for fanboys like us. They did it for Sonic CD, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles and Sonic 3D Flickies' Island. Please, please, please contintue this STC tradition!

from Boomer Hades.

Sonic Adventure appeared in issues 175-184. As for new tie-ins with the latest games... you'll just have to wait and see!

EPIC ADVENTURES

Dear Megadroid,

Firstly I would like to thank the team for ressurecting this esteemed publication, which brought me joy as a young child and now brings me joy again as an adolescant. I think the thing on very many fans minds is The Brotherhood of Metallix. As others have said, their Omni-Viewer copy remains- bring them back!
The new artwork is interesting, and as always I prefer the stories with a darker edge (the Johnny-nightmare creature story was fantastic). Your magazine was truly daring at some points- turning Robotnik into God was a masterstroke, and I was wondering if you had any major multi-part story arcs planned.

Love,
Moses Saxony

Word among the humes that think they're in charge is that this summer will see the beginning of a massive seven issue story arc.

OLD SCHOOL

Hi Megadroid,

I'm what you might call an "old school" STC reader, I liked it when I was much younger, but moved onto other things and stopped getting it (sorry) for a while, but I still think Sonic's cool (although he was much better suited the 2D genrè!) Anyway, something (I can't actually remember what... Probably Sonic Heroes coming out) prompted me to remember STC, and I wondered if it was still in business... A quick search on Google revealed that it was!

I was a bit disappointed with the art in the December issue, but a quick check in the Back Issues section reveals some pretty good stuff, although it doesn't look like the style I remember from way back (I can't remember the name of the artist who did that though, sorry.)

The storylines are still really cool, and I'm really happy that you didn't infest Mobius with humans, ala Sonic Adventure, but I see that Rogue the Bat and the Chaos Monster showed up (oh yeah, killing Johnny Lightfoot! I never thought that STC would do something so mature!) which begs the question... Where's Shadow?!

Shadow is the best (after Knuckles... and maybe Metalix from Sonic 3), super cool, a tortured hero! I could rave for ages about how cool Shadow is, but I won't, and just ask where he is! Nack is also cool. Nack should be a regular. Anyway, I've talked far too much already! I guess I should just stop and let you breath! Thanks for reading. And sorry for using so many exclamation marks ( ! ) I just feel very strongly about Sonic.

Darien Shields

Welcome back, Darien, and keep reading for even more thrilling adventures!

BOOMER WITH ATTITUDE!

Hi Megadroid,

WOW WOW WOW! I never thought i'd see STC back in any form and when i saw this link on a sonic page i look at i was straight there and read the lot with no disappointment. You have done a fantastic job of keeping the characters and stories faithful to the original STC, I was always a faithful reader and was so disappointed when STC just turned into repeats of old stories, only to end. I'm so glad you have kept the characters the same. STC always gave Sonic the attitude that got him his name, I love the way he's nasty to everyone, what a cool hero. All the other characters were great to and I'm glad that they have stayed that way. WELL DONE!!!

I'm glad to see Rouge this issue, she's a great character, I hope you play a little on the SA2 Rouge and Knuckles romance thing a bit, I can just imagine Sonic making fun big time. Hope to see Shadow in the not to distant future as well. But above all, remember how Sonic and Knuckles were constantly at each others throats, even in the most dangerous situations? Keep that up, it's hilarious. You've really made my day, and I'm so glad this comic will continue, keep up the great work for all us Sonic fans.

Cheers,
Ellie

Lucky you, Ellie: the hedgehog and echidna team up again this summer! It's not going to be a match made in heaven...

QUESTION TIME

Dear (Oh so totally Mega) Droid,

First off, YAY! STC is alive! Okay, with that out of my system, I have a few questions to pose:
1: Did Zachary succeed in removing Super Sonic from sonic? I hope not since I always loved Sonic turning Super and saving the day...
2: Will there be more Shortfuse stories?
3: Can you print this since I never ever got printed in the old STC.

Long time Fan (Every issue WELL worth it!)
Daniel Washbourne

Zachary's plans are much bigger than that, Daniel... get a taste in this issue's new Sonic story. Also, Shortfuse is bound to return sooner or later: you can't keep a good renegade squirrel down!
