STC
RESURRECTION! |
Hey
Megadroid - I remember you as a short yellow robot with legs!
Your going to get
this from a lot of the old boomers but I started collecting STC
from the BEGINNING! And didn't stop until the very end. I still
have them all in a huge box in my room. After I recently discovered
an old love for my Sega Mega Drive (still the best ever games console)
I took it upon myself to re-read all the comics. I came online to
see if any dedications to the old comic still existed when I stumbled
across this! I was ecstatic. Its return is fantastic and as I never
got one of my letters printed in the old comic, I thought it was
about time I wrote in again. I remember Richard Elson's art work
as it was by far my favourite. Does he still kick around the old
STC office? Once again, I think it's great that your back and it
means more to O.A.B.'s (old age boomers) such as myself. I can't
wait for the return of Knuckles.
Keep up the
resurrection,
Mark

Actually,
Mark, classic writing and art humes Nigel Kitching and Richard Elson
will soon be gracing print with a tale of their very own. Look out
for ‘A.H.A.B.’, this spring in ‘2000AD’. |

WHO'S
AFRAID OF MR. OLDFASH? |
Hey
Megadroid,
I was just sitting
here at my computer, getting all nostalgic about all the old comics
I used to read when I was young, when I decided it would be fun
to enter some of them into Google and see what I came up with. Guess
what I tried first? Yup, that's right! Sonic the Comic!
It's fantastic that
this great comic is being kept alive online, especially now Sega
are slightly less prominent in the industry than they were.
Keep up the good work,
Martin Harder
P.S.
To give you a clue of when I first started reading STC, does the
name Mr. Oldfash ring any bells :-) |

Warning
bells, Martin! |

FAB
FORUM |
Hi
Megadroid,
I know I've already
written once, but I've got to say thanks again for bringing StC
back to life! I was a bit worried for a while, when you created
Johnny the Zombie, but I waited for the second half, and I wasn't
disappointed!
I'm up for a forum
too, if no one minds me making random comments every now and again!
See you now, keep
up the good work!
Steph

I
mentioned the forum idea to designer hume Mike Corker, but he lunged
at me with a spanner. I’m taking that as a “maybe later”.

BOOMER
BLOOMER? |
Dear
Megadroid,
Hello! I missed this
comic so much. I collected it when I was younger. I'm now 17 but
I took it up again and realised how much deeper it was than it first
seemed!
I collected the comic
avidly up until the end of Robotnik Reigns supreme - I heard that
it went into print after that, but I've since found the Shanazar
and the brilliant Chaos Saga. The Chaos Saga completely rewrote
the idea of an "adaptation" for me and I laughed my head
of when the SA style Big was stuck in randomly.
Also, where does your
catchphrase "Boomer" come from?
Hope you're looking
forward to Sonic Heroes.
Thanks!
Wetflame.

My
booming speech was programmed into me by editor Richard Burton. You
don’t think “Boomer” originates from the Australian
name for a fully-grown male kangaroo do you? Anyone who can solve
the big Boomer mystery, tell Speedlines now! |

A
CHRISTMAS WISH... LIST |
Dear
Megadroid,
I was a loyal reader
of STC up until issue 100 and found every issue to be thrilling
and inspiring to my own individual artwork. Anyway I was hoping
you’d have it in your cyber heart to give me a short summary
of what happened through issues 101 - 223. Also I thought maybe
the inclusion of new releases, reviews, news, features, et.c on
the new consoles such as Gamecube would broaden the variety. Cheers
and congratulations on successfully still attracting many readers
to your ace comic.

I’m
afraid relating four years of stories, Luke, would blow even my circuits
but at least I can say that next issue will feature an amazing review
of the brand new Sonic game, Sonic Heroes! |

BRING
ON THE BAD GUYS |
Dear
Megadroid,
First off, I'd like
to say that your all doing a great job with STC. The stories are
great as is the dialogue and art! Anyway I was looking through Speedlines
and I noticed one person was asking whether you could have a forum.
I think that would be great idea as then you could meet all the
people who think your comic rules! I agree also with the Evil Omni
Viewer resurrection that would be a great story!
Keep up the good work.
Sam Dudley
P.S. Thanks for reviving Zac, he's my fave, underrated
character!

|
Well,
Sam, if it’s old villains that catch your fancy, check out the
sinister new team of nefarious ne’er-do-wells in this issue’s
latest Sonic story, “The Syndicate”! |

GAME
ON! |
Dear
Megadroid,
AI am a great fan
of the whole series of Sonic The Comic. When I found out that this
site existed, I was amazed, and now at the fourth new instalment
I am waiting and checking every time I use the computer. I think
putting Nack into the story is great but I also think that several
other older characters which were only in games could do good .
Some characters I think you
should put in to the story are:
Bark the Polar Bear and Bean the Dynamite (he's a duck really),
they are from Sonic Fighters, an arcade fighting game, Bark is supposed
to be really strong and Bean can make and use bombs, like the ones
in Sonic and Knuckles perhaps. However they all get beaten easily
by Knuckles.
Ray from Sonic The Arcade Game is also a character I would like
to see, he is a squirrel who flies (like Tails but he only has one
tail) and glides (like Knuckles), he's got yellow fur, you'll find
a picture of him if you search on the web.
Bomb and Heavy, robots who were on the side of the Chaotix in Knuckles'
Chaotix, are two of the apparently worst characters, but I think
they could march back in style. I've only played the arcade games
once or twice and have never played Knuckles' Chaotix so I am not
sure about this info but apparently Bomb explodes in any sign of
danger and Heavy is just incredibly slow. Perhaps it seems rather
comedic. Anyway, I think Bomb could be a bouncy ball/pinball like
character (I've only seen one picture but he looks a bit like the
bombs in Mario), perhaps coloured blue, and Heavy could be a huge
cylinder who squashes everything in his path, I haven't seen any
pictures of him so I don't know what he looked like in Chaotix,
so this is my portrayal of him, he'd also be blue.
You’re doing
great in bringing Sonic back to life in Britain, and I think this
complements Sonics move onto Xbox and especially PS2, or the other
way around. I can't wait until we get deep into the new Sonic stories.
Best of Luck,
Hex |
|
Good ideas, Hex, but check out the first strip this issue to see who
the newest arrival from the games is! |

DAY
OF THE DRAKONS |
Dear
Megadroid,
I'm a French fan of
Sonic the Hedgehog. I knew Sonic the comic in Sonic Mag in the French
version, after I collected Sonic the comics with the help of an
English friend. I always prefer your version of comics about Sonic,
until Chaos saga. The Chaos saga was not really good because of
the introduction of the Drakon Empire, if Chaos was not a Drakon
but a mystical monster who killed echidnae and Drakons, the story
would be better but it's only my opinion.
The other thing I don't like is the attitude of Sonic against Amy:
it's too much.
Thank You
Steve McClane

Don’t
worry, Steve: Amy loves to wind Sonic up, as well! |
