They\u2019re cold-blooded, you see, so they can withstand a bit of warmth. So it fell to a scaly young Mobian to summon Amy Rose, Tekno the Canary and Johnny Lightfoot when a strange lump of rock was found at the lava\u2019s edge in the Lava Loch Zone (Winner, World\u2019s Most Lukewarm Hot Springs 1996). Johnny wasn\u2019t impressed at the vaguely humanoid rock but the Mobian explained it hadn\u2019t been there the day before. Around lava, that\u2019s not always a good sign (ever heard of Pompeii?). Tekno added fuel to the fire, so to speak, when her scanner showed something was alive inside the rock- someone had been flash solidified! But what on Mobius could possibly survive being encased in molten lava?\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/flashbackzone\/27201.jpg\" \/>\r\n\r\nOf course, it was none other than Robotnik\u2019s own worst nightmare (and if you don\u2019t believe me, ask him yourself), Shortfuse the Cybernik! Shortfuse\u2019s indestructible armour had saved him from becoming a charbroiled squirrel. Shortfuse explained that his armour\u2019s power had inexplicably cut out on him while flying over the loch and he\u2019d plummeted in- only his back-up life support systems and the armour itself had kept him alive for the past few months! When his power kicked back in, he crawled to the surface, but the lava hardened around him.\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/flashbackzone\/27202.jpg\" \/>\r\n\r\nShortfuse was dismayed to learn the reason for his fall- the electromagnetic pulse that had defeated Doctor Robotnik! Not that he was upset Robotnik had been defeated, Shortfuse was anguished because he wasn\u2019t there to help earn that Final Victory (we\u2019ll get to it in due course, don\u2019t worry!). Amy told Shortfuse that he had become too intense and asked if he had considered a \u201cnormal\u201d career. Shortfuse decided Amy was on the money.\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/flashbackzone\/27203.jpg\" \/>\r\n\r\nUnfortunately, Shortfuse wasn\u2019t much cop in the real world. His bulky suit made him a poor fit for the double-glazing sales role as he ended up shattering the glass! Efforts to speed up cooking in a fast food restaurant by using his laser blaster led to equally poor results. Shortfuse couldn\u2019t even get by as a celebrity spokessquirrel for armour wax!\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/flashbackzone\/27204.jpg\" \/>\r\n\r\nDejected, Shortfuse wondered if he would find a place in a post-Robotnik Mobius. As he contemplated his life as he flew through the air, a gateway between dimensions opened up! Shortfuse was face-to-face with an inhabitant of another world who asked for the help of Mobius\u2019 greatest champion, Sonic the Hedgehog to aid them in holding off an invasion of powerful aliens! Shortfuse told the flustered soldier that Sonic wasn\u2019t available (politely leaving out the part about how Sonic doesn\u2019t usually fly so the gateway wasn\u2019t in the best of positions) but was more than happy to offer his help.\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/flashbackzone\/27205.jpg\" \/>\r\n\r\nA few days later, Shortfuse\u2019s friend Tekno pondered aloud to Amy about where the cybernetically enhanced super-rodent had gone. Fletcher<br \/> <strong>Added to Omni Viewer's Data Banks by:<\/strong> Michael Corker<\/p><p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=\"Flashback Zone Text\" background_layout=\"light\" module_id=\"controlzonetext\" _builder_version=\"3.0.69\" background_size=\"initial\" background_position=\"top_left\" background_repeat=\"repeat\" custom_margin=\"20px|||\" text_orientation=\"left\" border_style=\"solid\"]<\/p><p><img src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/flashbackzone\/27100.jpg\" \/><\/p><p>Sonic found himself in the Desert of Eternity on the microscopic world of Shanazar where, for one mission, he served as chaperone to a group of children- not long before Robotnik showed up! But we aren\u2019t here for Robotnik today. Getting the kids away from danger, Sonic managed to get separated from the rest of the group and caught in a sandstorm. Though he tried valiantly to retain consciousness, Sonic blacked out in the middle of the storm. Soon after it settled, a worrying duo found Sonic\u2019s slumbering body and hauled him away\u2026<\/p><p><img src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/flashbackzone\/27101.jpg\" \/><\/p><p>Sonic awoke in a prison cell, along with a group of Shanazarian slaves! He\u2019d been brought to Kullconan Town as a slave! Sonic wasn\u2019t exactly going to take that sort of behaviour lying down, so did what he does best- rescuing people! Blasting a hole in the side of the cell, Sonic set about freeing the slaves, but was warned about the Scimitar Brothers. Never one to understand dramatic irony, Sonic enquired as to the identity of the brothers and, as I\u2019m sure you can imagine, was introduced to them in a very physical way as a result\u2026<\/p><p><img src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/flashbackzone\/27102.jpg\" \/><\/p><p>To Sonic\u2019s astonishment, the Scimitar Brothers- R\u2019zor and Blunnt- were conjoined! This meant Sonic had to fight a foe with twice the arms, twice the size, twice the strength and twice the bloodlust! Luckily for our heroic hedgehog, however, they only had half the brain that he did!<\/p><p><img src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/flashbackzone\/27103.jpg\" \/><\/p><p>R\u2019zor and Blunnt managed to distract themselves with their squabbling- it seemed they didn\u2019t particularly care for sharing a body! Sonic saw his opportunity to attack, but he couldn\u2019t risk a head-on confrontation unless he particularly wanted to get whalloped. Using his quick thinking, Sonic hit upon an idea owing to the events of earlier that day\u2026<\/p><p><img src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/flashbackzone\/27104.jpg\" \/><\/p><p>Sonic used his tremendous speed to whip up a sandstorm of his own creation! The brothers were left in a spluttering heap but, ultimately, had to yield to Sonic. However, our hero didn\u2019t have long to relax as the terrible sorcerer who had joined the Scimitar Brothers together, Kurse, made his appearance!<\/p><p><img src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/flashbackzone\/27105.jpg\" \/><\/p><p>Kurse was an incredibly powerful sorcerer and Sonic found himself unable to attack, trapped as a result of one of Kurse\u2019s incantations. Thinking on the ball, Sonic promised the Scimitar Brothers that if they helped him to beat Kurse, he would return the favour by forcing the wicked wizard to separate the brothers. The plan initially worked as Sonic was freed by the brothers, but Kurse turned the tables on them by inflicting an excruciating torture curse upon them!<\/p><p><img src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/flashbackzone\/27106.jpg\" \/><\/p><p>The moment\u2019s distraction was all Sonic needed! Realising Kurse couldn\u2019t use his magic if he couldn\u2019t cast his incantations, Sonic used his superior speed to shut the conceited conjuror up! Realising there was no way he could outspeed Sonic, Kurse submitted. He offered his services to Sonic- true to his word, Sonic ordered Kurse to revert the Scimitar Brothers to normal, free the slaves and then (and I\u2019m quoting here) get lost! With the trouble over, Sonic got back on the road\u2026 the only problem was, he had no idea where he would end up next on this strange planet\u2026<\/p><p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=\"Flashback Zone Info\" _builder_version=\"3.0.67\" background_color=\"rgba(255,87,34,0.8)\" background_layout=\"dark\" text_orientation=\"left\" border_style=\"solid\" custom_padding=\"5px|5px|5px|5px\"]<\/p><p><img class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/stconline.co.uk\/omni\/magickal.gif\" \/><\/p><p>So, what do you reckon, Boomers?
